Wine travel beyond the socials

If it’s on social it must be true. Right?

If you happen to follow me on any of my social media platforms (here or here) it is true, but it’s also not my full-story. With limited character space and algorithms, there’s often a lot left unsaid, wines not reviewed, behind the scenes travel and producer stories untold, and an infinite amount of wine things in my head.

Why this, why now

You inspired me. Those of you that read my work, that have reached out to ask for wine or travel advice, have encouraged me to write a book, or sent me notes to say that something I wrote inspired action, this is for you.

And it’s also for me. Writing for online wine publications can be less than steady, creatively limiting, occasionally unfairly censored, and most of the time underfunded. And while Instagram has been my creative space for several years, and will remain so until it loses its aspect of fun and community, it’s time to allow myself a little more creative freedom, space to say what I want to say, how I want to say it, and words, pictures, and videos that live on a platform that allows me more control of my own content.

Pull-up a chair

I came into wine and wine travel because it brings people to a common table, inspires joy and community, takes us around the world, and can absolutely enthrall our senses. It’s art, culture, history, science, nature, and something that can transcend societal barriers.

Wine is more than a beverage at meal time, it’s a unifier, a merrymaker, a teacher, and let’s face it, it can be damn delicious. And most importantly, it shouldn’t be hard - and doesn’t have to be expensive. I invite you to learn with me, teach me, show up as you are and with curiosity. And above all, to drink what you like, how you like it.

And let’s do this

I’ll be here once a week. This week, it’s on a Tuesday. Next week, it might be Friday. I’ll work to make it more predictable, but living a life in wine and wine travel is anything but predictable (or profitable). So as I juggle my freelance gigs, you can count on finding my musings and nuggets randomly in your inbox each week - for free.
